1) Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Truth Takes ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our websites and related services (the "Services"). It also explains the choices and rights that may be available to you.

This policy is a notice about our privacy practices. Our Terms of Use govern your use of the Services.

2) Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Services and the features you choose to use. It may include:

• Account and profile information. This may include your email address, display name, biography, avatar, and optional profile details you choose to provide, such as location, church, website, social profile information, or a life verse.
• Content and communications. We process content you submit through the Services, including Takes and drafts, comments, contact messages, contributor applications and testimony, invitations, and other communications with us or through features of the Services.
• Activity and interaction information. We may record activity associated with your use of the Services, such as takes viewed, reading activity, saved takes, reactions, follows or subscriptions, comments, notifications, and sharing activity. We also record page paths and visit times in temporary visitor sessions, including for guests, to understand navigation and improve the site. This navigation history is accessible only to administrators and is retained for up to 90 days; it does not include full URL query parameters or fragments. For future visits, we may also record the referring website's domain and limited campaign tags (such as UTM source, medium, and campaign) associated with a temporary visitor session, retained for up to 90 days. Referring information may be absent or inaccurate; we do not use browser fingerprinting to identify anonymous visitors.
• Technical and security information. When you access or interact with the Services, we and our infrastructure providers may process information such as your IP address, browser or user-agent information, device and request information, timestamps, referring information, and approximate location derived from an IP address. We may retain some of this information in security, authentication, application, and infrastructure logs.
• Information about other people that you provide. If you use a feature to share content with another person by email or invite someone to the Services, we process the email address and related delivery information you provide. We may retain information about the share, invitation, and previously used recipients to operate and improve those features.

We do not collect payment card numbers through the public areas of the site. If we add paid features that change our data practices, we will update this policy accordingly.

3) How we use information

We use information as reasonably necessary to operate and protect Truth Takes, including to:

• Provide, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
• Create, authenticate, secure, and manage accounts and profiles.
• Publish, display, review, and moderate user-submitted content and comments.
• Remember preferences and activity and provide features such as saved takes, following, reading history, notifications, and resumed experiences.
• Deliver requested emails, invitations, notifications, shared takes, and other communications.
• Provide AI-assisted features used for writing assistance, formatting, title or summary suggestions, content review, and moderation.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent spam, bots, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Use.
• Administer contributor applications, submissions, and site operations.
• Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

4) Cookies, browser storage & similar technologies

The Services use browser storage and authentication or session technologies to support site functionality. Depending on the feature and browser, these technologies may include local storage, session storage, cookies, or similar mechanisms.

We use these technologies to:

• Keep you signed in and maintain secure authenticated sessions.
• Remember settings such as theme and other preferences.
• Preserve certain reading, Knowledge Explorer, following, and session state on your device.
• Temporarily store certain feature state, including some AI-assisted writing state, so features work as expected.
• Support security and abuse-prevention measures.

Your browser may allow you to clear or restrict cookies and browser storage. Doing so may sign you out, remove locally saved preferences or session state, or cause some features not to function as expected.

5) AI-assisted features & automated review

Some Truth Takes features use third-party artificial intelligence services. When you choose to use an AI-assisted authoring or review feature, relevant content may be transmitted to an AI service provider so the requested feature can analyze, review, format, moderate, or suggest changes to that content.

We also use automated review to help identify potential issues in submitted comments and other content. Automated results may inform moderation or authoring tools, but they do not eliminate human judgment where human review is appropriate. Do not submit sensitive personal information to an AI-assisted feature unless it is necessary for the content you are asking the feature to process.

6) When we disclose information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

• Service providers. We use providers that support hosting and infrastructure, database and authentication services, email delivery, spam and bot prevention, and AI-assisted features. These providers process information as needed to provide their services to us. Our current service providers include Vercel, Supabase, Resend, Cloudflare Turnstile, and OpenAI.
• At your direction or through public features. Information is disclosed when you choose to publish it, share it with another person, invite someone, or otherwise use a feature that requires disclosure to fulfill your request.
• Legal, safety, and security reasons. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a lawful governmental request; enforce our Terms of Use; investigate abuse or security incidents; or protect the rights, property, safety, and integrity of Truth Takes, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. Information may be transferred or disclosed as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction involving all or part of the Services.

7) User content & public activity

Takes, comments, public profile information, and other content you choose to make public may be visible to anyone, including people who do not have a Truth Takes account. Public content may also be indexed, copied, quoted, captured, or shared by others outside our control.

Drafts, private authoring tools, moderation information, and other non-public account information are not made public merely because they are stored by the Services. Visibility depends on the feature, your actions, and applicable moderation or administrative controls.

8) Data security & retention

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including authentication, access controls, encrypted network connections, database security controls, abuse-prevention measures, and restricted administrative access. Our infrastructure and service providers also maintain security controls appropriate to the services they provide. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to operate the Services, maintain account and content history, protect the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention varies by the type of information and the reason we hold it.

Deleting an account or content does not necessarily cause every associated record to disappear immediately. Some information may remain for a reasonable period in backups, security or authentication logs, moderation and revision records, fraud or abuse-prevention records, or records we must retain for legal or legitimate operational purposes. Where appropriate, we may delete, de-identify, or aggregate information when it is no longer needed.

9) Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights or choices regarding your information, including to:

• Access or request a copy of certain personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Request deletion of your account or certain personal information, subject to applicable exceptions and retention needs described above.
• Update information and preferences available through your account or profile.
• Unsubscribe or opt out of non-essential email communications using available controls.
• Exercise other privacy rights that may apply under the law where you live.

To exercise a privacy right that is not available directly through the Services, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain a record of the request as required or permitted by law.

10) Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" information above. In some cases, we may provide additional notice (such as email or an in-product message).
