1) Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Truth Takes (the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services.

2) What Truth Takes is

Truth Takes is a curated platform for Scripture-anchored commentary and discussion. We aim for clarity, careful handling of facts, and a tone that prefers light over heat. We are not a replacement for the local church, pastoral counsel, or Scripture itself.

3) Eligibility & accounts

You may use public portions of the Services without creating an account. To submit content or access certain features, you may need to create an account and provide accurate, up-to-date information.

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it.
• You may not share your account in ways that defeat safeguards, rate limits, or moderation decisions.
• We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated these Terms, our guidelines, or pose a risk to other users or to the Services.

4) Acceptable use

By using the Services, you agree that you will not:

• Use the Services for any unlawful purpose or to promote illegal activities.
• Post content that is defamatory, hateful, harassing, or that incites violence.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or data.
• Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or bulk collect data without permission.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or organization.
• Upload malware, attempt to disrupt the Services, or bypass security features.

5) Community expectations

We are building a community that seeks to handle current events and questions with a deeply Christian, Scripture-saturated posture. We expect contributors and commenters to:

• Engage respectfully, even in disagreement.
• Avoid personal attacks, harassment, and inflammatory language.
• Handle Scripture carefully and in context (see our guidelines).
• Be source-aware and intellectually honest; avoid misleading framing.

6) User Content & licenses

Much of the value of Truth Takes comes from contributors who submit posts, comments, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content as between you and us.

When you submit User Content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the rights to the content or have permission to use it.
• Your content does not infringe third-party rights, including copyright, privacy, or publicity rights.
• Your content complies with these Terms and our guidelines.

By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting, accessibility, and moderation), create derivative works (such as excerpts or previews), display, and distribute your content in connection with operating, promoting, and improving the Services.

Note: This license exists so we can publish your work, show it in feeds, send it in notifications, and keep backups. It is not a claim of ownership.

7) Public nature of the platform

Some activity on the Services is public by design (such as published posts, comments, and profile details you choose to make public). Please do not post information you are not comfortable sharing publicly.

Even if we remove content, cached or copied versions may exist elsewhere. We cannot control how third parties use content you make public.

8) Moderation & enforcement

We reserve the right (but do not have an obligation) to review, moderate, edit, restrict, or remove User Content at our discretion. For example, we may remove or decline to publish content that:

• Violates these Terms or our guidelines.
• Misuses Scripture or promotes teaching we believe is harmful or deceptive.
• Contains harassment, threats, doxxing, or personal attacks.
• Includes spam, deceptive links, or overt promotional content.

We may also restrict or terminate access to the Services for accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate our expectations.

9) Copyright & takedowns

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, please contact us with sufficient detail for us to investigate (including the URL, a description of the work, and your contact information). We may remove content and take appropriate action, including terminating repeat infringers.

10) Third-party links & services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.

11) Intellectual property

The Services (including our design, layout, logos, and original content we create) are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or exploit our materials except as expressly allowed by these Terms or with our prior written permission.

12) Disclaimers

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Opinions expressed in posts and other User Content belong to individual contributors and do not necessarily represent the views of Truth Takes.

Content is for general informational and discipleship encouragement purposes. It is not professional legal, medical, financial, or pastoral counseling for your specific situation.

13) Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Truth Takes and its owners, partners, and team members will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Services.

14) Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Truth Takes and its team from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Services or your User Content, including your violation of these Terms or infringement of any right of any person or entity.

15) Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or our guidelines, or if needed to protect the Services or other users.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including licenses, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive.

16) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date. In some cases, we may provide additional notice (such as email or an in-product message).

Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17) Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be handled in the appropriate courts located in North Carolina.
